My incredible friend, writer and artist Rachel J. Fenton (aka Rae Joyce), has been working very hard lately on a multitude of projects, two of which having recently come to fruition in a most beautiful way: two shiny books filled…
The month of March was marked down in my agenda as the month when I do a good round of editing to Eye, my second and very unfortunate book. I don’t have any courses during this month, not of a…
I realize that the idea of a logo is to create brand identity and brand recognition, and that is why it needs to be a constant element that doesn’t change much throughout time. However, since I am not a real…
Both Friday and Monday. No school. Bitter sweet. The way everything always is. Not having to go out of the house, being all stocked up on meals (cashew chicken curry leftovers) and treats (chocolate-covered coffee beans), with water, electricity, heat, and Internet working, we've been in no position to complain. At all. > > >
Last year I kept track of all my thrifting on small post-its in my planner. I tried to see what are my patterns—how much I'm spending and what type of things I buy. I didn't look much at what I bought for the kids, husband or home, but only the pretty little things I bought exclusively for my own enjoyment. > > >
A long time has passed since my last post about the books I've been reading. And I have been reading some really exceptional books, I have to say. Since I don't have the time or the inclination to review everything that I've been reading for more than half a year, I am planning to just tell you about three books that have . . . > > >
We don't just think with our minds, we think with our bodies. So research says, not I. The study, led by Adam D. Galinsky in 2012, demonstrated that people wearing a white doctor's coat experienced improved attention capabilities. This did not happen when they were told the white coat they were wearing was a painter's coat, . . . > > >
It is hard to come back to the blog after such a long absence. But I never really meant to abandon it. It just happened that I didn't have the time or the enthusiasm for it for a while. My summer blogging break (as I'd like it to be known from now on) is still going on, but I wanted to let you know that I have an article up on the technical communication blog of ClickHelp: Learning technical writing: adaptation and evolution. Because even if not all writing is "creative," any writing is a lot of fun. I know, . . . > > >
Had the first cappuccino-crunch ice cream of the season. It's my favorite flavor of ice cream in the world (by Hershey's, I believe) and I can only find it at an ice cream stand that's open in the summer. Which works fine for me. It's always a treat. Bought a pair of sunglasses, lost a pair of sunglasses, had to order another pair of sunglasses. > > >
This is my ... fourth? e-book reader. All the previous ones (there was a beautiful Sony, a nice Nook, and another Kindle) have died premature deaths, well with the exception of the Nook, which still lives, but it is not an e-ink screen so it always felt more like a tablet. This new little fellow is the Kindle Voyage. Early birthday present. > > >
Until last week Montreal was for me only the place where Nadia Comaneci had won her perfect 10 the summer that I was born. After a surprisingly easy trip last weekend (we drove and it was not that bad, actually) it has fleshed out a little. Now it's the place with the Jean Talon market where they have a Romanian store, the stunning . . . > > >
