I’m with her

I think I’m going to spend the rest of the year in tears. Hillary Clinton has become the first woman presidential nominee from a major party in the US. It’s ridiculous that it’s happening only in 2016, but nevertheless it…

Chocolate woes

My favorite childhood chocolate was called ROM, so Romanian that it sported the flag on the wrapper. It is still made today. It has a strong rum flavor. It’s not an exceptional chocolate in any way, just sweet and rummy.…

The yuck and meh and hmm of early spring

In spite of the pretty flowers pictured (long gone anyway), it’s not all beauty and sunshine over here. The weather is drab and gray, and the flu has wreaked havoc in my family. The whole of March has been decisively…

A minute of one’s own

The month of March was marked down in my agenda as the month when I do a good round of editing to Eye, my second and very unfortunate book. I don’t have any courses during this month, not of a…

Walls, windows, wool (and snow)

Return

It is hard to come back to the blog after such a long absence. But I never really meant to abandon it. It just happened that I didn't have the time or the enthusiasm for it for a while. I still am entranced by the work of other bloggers and I know that returning here is happening, if slowly and tentatively at first. I always miss the blog . . . > > >

Summer in (sort of) full swing

Had the first cappuccino-crunch ice cream of the season. It's my favorite flavor of ice cream in the world (by Hershey's, I believe) and I can only find it at an ice cream stand that's open in the summer. Which works fine for me. It's always a treat. Bought a pair of sunglasses, lost a pair of sunglasses, had to order another pair of sunglasses. > > >
